How Can I Become a Christian?
1. You understand that you are a sinner in need of a Savior. To become a Christian, one
must first realize that they are a sinner and that their sins have separated them from a holy
God. The Bible says, "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Romans
3:23). What does sin produce? The Bible says, "The wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23).
2. You understand that Christ paid the penalty for our sin. To become a Christian, one must
realize that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that His death on the cross paid the
penalty for our sins. Jesus Himself said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man
cometh unto the Father, but by me" (John 14:6). Jesus also said, "You must be born again"
(John 3:3).
3. You understand that you must take action in the light of these facts. You will become a
Christian when you take personal action by exercising your faith on these facts. The Bible
says, "That if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart
that God raised Him from the dead, YOU will be saved" (Romans 10:9). This "believing"
involves a turning away from the self-rule in your life to a submissive acceptance of Christ
as the Lord and Savior of your life.
